Oh, sorry. I thought that e. g. note minor 3rd lower is just a note 3 frets lower. So in that case I should find a note 3 frets higher and then find it in lower octave, right? If so, beside 5ths there are many minor and major 6ths in this harmony. I guess it depends on which note is in scale, am i right? I've just tried to analyse Master of Puppets harmony solo, and i think there are a lot of simiar patterns there.

@Peter
Actually, the 9th fret on the D string is a B note, which is the 5th, not the 4th. I am not sure what kind of harmony this is, but in general it sounds good, so as far as I know it is like harmonizing with 5ths in some places, and treating the higher notes as if they are the main notes you want to harmonize with, but harmonizing with lower notes.

I don't really get how should I play the lower voice. In your example the first note (9th fret on G string) after harmonizing is 9th fret on D string. This is 4th. Then the second note (11th fret on G string) is 12th fret on D string. This is major 3rd. And the third note (12th fret on G string) is 14th fret on D string. This interval is minor 3rd. So what exactly i have to do to harmonize the melody down?

@Darren
Well thanks for the nice words man but don't forget what you already know. I am sure it can be useful. Anyway, if you want to find a fifth, it's very easy. It's seven notes away from whatever note you are currently on. For example, E's fifth is B because it's seven notes away. The notes are E, F, F#, G, G#, A, Bb, B. You can do that for any other note.

Stumbled across your page here and it shook apart what I thought about harmonizing. I figured if I wanted to find my fifth I'd just count from my root note of my scale til I got to the 5th note and play my original melody there, BUT in that key. :( This is a really good read though and I'll have to re-learn what I thought I knew lol
