Molten Shrapnel Storm

This song was originally meant to be fast, but as I wrote the riffs for the progressions, the riffs just got slower and heavier.
For this one, we have two guitar solos with some minor third harmonized stuff, and a lot of slap style bass. I am not too good at it, but I thought would fit the slow and heavy style. And the intro is all about sliding harmonized power chords with pinch harmonics on multiple strings.
It’s a pretty straightforward song about a red sky full of glowing hot fragments of metal flying down towards the earth. This is my first attempt at artwork!
Once again, I used GarageBand and EZDrummer/Drumkit From Hell to create this song. You can get the tones I used to create this song here, as long as you use a compatible Pod device.
Here’s a video of me playing the song:

That’s gonna be a kick ass song, that’s sure.
@RR24Shredder
Thanks man! I hope you like the complete version.
I like the demo man, lookin’ forward to the whole thing, especially with the slap bass in it (: When can we expect to hear it?
Thanks! I am not sure when I will polish it all up. I’d like to get a video ready too so it might be a few weeks. I’m pretty busy these days!
Waittt that was demo, that was so cool
hey when i try to download it, it opens in windows media player. or is it spost to do that?
@David Wu
I used to just have a demo version of this song on this page. It’s now the full version. Thanks!
@starfox707
Depends on your browser, etc. But if you want to save it, you should probably right-click and choose ‘Save As’.
Thanks for the free download. Great song. Any chance of a tab? I’d love to see what that solo looks like
Looking forward to more! Just out of curiosity, are you planning on staying in D Standard (At least, I think this is in D), or are you going to try another tuning? I know you’ve done a lot of Drop C for your Bodom covers; was wondering if you were planning on writing a song in Drop C or something lower (Drop B’s also great).
@Matt
Thanks! Well I usually don’t make solo tabs because it takes too much time. I usually just do tabs for rhythm parts. But if I do I will post it here. I prefer to play in D standard because the strings just feel right for me. Anything lower sounds too sludgy for my style. But at the same time I wouldn’t limit myself!
Ahh. Yeah I know what you mean about the feeling of the strings in a given tuning…that is important. I’m not sure what gauge your “low” string is, but I’ve found that 54-11′s do pretty well until Drop B. Anything lower than that gets kind of loose. But, still, I understand; D Standard does fit your style very well. I still don’t get how you get such sound from your pinch harmonics…they’re so clean yet they have serious attitude to them, too.
@Matt
I think it’s 54. Anyway, yeah the strings can go pretty low, but you still usually need to change your intonation if you go that low. I pick pretty hard so if the strings are very low tuned it sounds kind of bad because the strings rub against the pickups. As for the pinch harmonics, you can check out my lesson video on that. It’s just a lot of gain and vibrato.
it still does not work, if you get a chanch can you email me it .(you dont have to if you dont want to) thanks.
@starfox707
I need your email address in order to do that!
Just out of curiosity, what video editing software do you use to edit your videos? I’d like to make videos where I can put two recordings up at once (Such as rhythm and lead guitar) like you do…but all I have is Windows Movie Maker, and I don’t THINK you can do that in that program. Apologies if you have this listed somewhere…I couldn’t find it.
Thanks.
