Pod X3 Tones
Here’s my collection of Line 6 tones. I use a Pod X3 Live, so you will need to make sure you use a compatible device if you don’t have the same exact model, other wise the tone won’t work right.
Of course these tones might not exactly give you the same sound I have because I usually apply more effects to my tones after recording them in software. Also, I am constantly changing tones around. But I’ll try to keep this page as up to date as possible.
I have also recently begun to use some impulses to simulate real guitar cabinets.
Many of these tones are based on other tones I’ve found around the internet so I can’t take all the credit.
Safari users: Be sure to control-click and choose “Save Linked File…” if the links do not work.
Here’s the rhythm tone I used on some of my original songs. It’s a very simple tone. It is a Mesa Boogie head with a ton of gain.
I used this rhythm tone on the Careworn tracks. It’s a pretty good thrash tone, but it doesn’t sound very clear at times.
Here’s the lead tone I used for a few songs. It’s extremely loud and it has some delay and reverb. You can also turn on the chorus effect included in the tone for a different sound. It would probably make a pretty good rhythm tone if it was quieter, but I personally don’t like to play rhythm with delay or reverb.
This is the basic clean tone I use. It is nothing too fancy. Just a clean channel with some delay and reverb.
Here’s the bass tone I used for my Careworn tracks and some some of my newer songs. The only differences are how I mixed the track in the end. It is a very loud bass tone with a lot of midrange and distortion. It’s based on an Ampeg amp and cab. I tried to model the tone after thrash sounds like Meshuggah – Contradictions Collapse and Megadeth – Rust In Peace which are generally loud.
Here’s another bass tone I use from time to time. It is pretty much like the other bass track but it is just not as loud and distorted.
the links aren’t working bro
@austin
Really? The links work fine for me. Which tone are you trying to download and what browser are you using?
im using safari and whenever i click on any of the tones i just get taken to a patch with a bunch of random letters and numbers on it
@austin
Ah thanks for catching that man. Well, I haven’t been able to figure this one out quite yet. It seems like Safari doesn’t like the .l6t file extension. I had the same problem here and also on other websites with .l6t files. So for now, until I can fix it, just use control-click and do “Save Linked File…” to save the tone.
The links are working fine except the thrashy bass one. That’s all.
@Zack
Thanks for catching that one. I’ve fixed it.
thanks, i didn’t realize i could just save it like that >_<
Mesa Boogie tone wont download.
@Josh
Really? It works fine for me! Can you elaborate? What browser? What happens when you try to download it?
witch tone do you use for COB covers?
@Simon
I actually don’t use this equipment for my covers. This is just recording equipment. For cover videos, I have used my Marshall amp, which you can read about in the About section.
Could use something like a Toneport UX2 to download and use these tones?
Oh, and the aforementioned product is a Line 6 as well.
@Arian
Not sure myself. You should get in touch with Line 6 support to be sure but you can always try.
